Having joined the Parish Council in May 2003, I am one of the longest serving members. I am a member of several groups – Planning, Communications and Engagement and managing the Public Toilets. I represent North Somerset parish councils on the Mendip Hills AONB Partnership Committee.

I have managed The Rocks for many years and recently added the wild flower area on The Mead, which will take a few years yet to settle and establish.   The Rocks continue to evolve – the primroses have expanded considerably and the red campion has spread many metres down the upper slope into the flat area.   The mown path has had to be moved back to allow space for this natural spreading of the plants. The last vestiges of the area are now being taken into regular management.

As parish council tree warden, I take a lead on planning applications involving tree work and any issues around Eldred’s Orchard. One of my main aims is to contribute to maintaining and enhancing our village character. Sadly my running days came to an end in 2015 due to injury but I endeavour to cover the footpaths around our village.   I have done dry-stone walling and hedge laying, including the hedge down to Timswell with the AONB and continuing on my own from Timswell up to Eldred’s Orchard. Some follow-up maintenance now needs to be done.

In wider village affairs, I am Publicity Officer for Blagdon Local History Society and contributed chapters to the published volumes of the History of Blagdon. I am Secretary of Blagdonia, the organisation which evolved out of the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations in 2012 and which now co-ordinates the annual summer event and the Christmas celebrations.
