Draft Joint Local Transport Plan Consultation

The parish council have been made aware that the Draft Joint Local Transport Plan 4 (JLTP4) covering the period to 2036 is currently out for consultation with an end date of 20 March.

The West of England Combined Authority is encouraging as many people as possible to contribute.  There is an “Easy to Read booklet and questions”,  an ideas survey for people to complete, a Summary Document, an Environmental Assessment and a vast amount of paper covering the draft plans in detail with all the supporting data.
Rather than just the PC commenting the Council is keen for residents to be aware of the consultation so as many as possible may make their views known directly.
The final JLTP version will be published later in 2019.

Opportunity to try out for free the new bus service connecting Churchill and Langford with Bristol

The parish council have been made aware of the newly improved bus service connecting Churchill and Langford with Bristol, and the opportunity for local people to try it out free of charge.

Launched in September 2018, the Unibus U2 bus travels between the University of Bristol’s Langford campus and Queens Road, Clifton. The service runs hourly on weekdays from around 8am until 6pm, providing an ideal public transport option for people heading into Bristol for work, shopping or leisure.

Following a successful first three months of operation and the introduction of an improved timetable in January, the U2 is being promoted to the communities of Churchill, Langford and Redhill with the offer of a free travel week from Monday 18 to Friday 22 February 2019.

The U2 is a public bus service operated on behalf of the University by First West of England using a fleet of modern, low-emission double decker vehicles with free wi-fi and USB charging points.

The service is part of First’s West of England network meaning customers can take advantage of the fare offers and ticket options available on all First buses across the region. Full timetable and fare information is available on the Bristol Unibus pages of First’s website.

But please note that during the free travel week, there’s no need for a ticket – customers can just hop aboard and enjoy the ride.

In advance of the free travel week, the University will be promoting the U2 service across the communities of Langford, Churchill and Redhill with a poster campaign and mailshot to local homes and businesses. An electronic version of the poster is attached to this email for your use on your website.
